Bas Naam hi Kafhi Hai.................

Bollywood is known to give us classics and duds. The ideas of the filmmaker matters the most. But sometimes, they catch our attention only through names. After all, the public sees the full film, so is it true that “What’s in the Name”?

LADY TERMINATOR - FIRST SHE MATES THEN SHE TERMINATES.

This was a 1988 Indonesian movie which has his full plot and storyline copied from the original James Cameron’s sci-fi thriller, but this time, the lead was played by a lady as the title suggests but it incorporated a lot of local legend, aimed squarely at a largely working-class local audience in Indonesia. The cheesy special effects, horrendous dubbing, lame acting, and cheap production values are just icing on the cake.
Do watch it to know more about this timeless classic. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed….Hindi version is Highly Recommended which will give you, maybe more fun than watching India’s own favourite “Gunda” staring Mithun Chakraborty.

BASANTI KI SHAADI HONEYMOON GABBAR KA

This 2002 movie was like a magnum opus of Harinam Singh who acted, directed and produced this one with a starcast containing actors like Yasmeen, Parita, Rehha, Gurbachan, Ani Nagrath, Mahesh Raaj, Vinod Tripathi.( The writer also heard their name while writing this article). An total adult laugh riot, it’s a spoof on the biggest blockbusters of all time, Sholay.
Plot of the story :
Gabbar , the terror of Chambal valley, having kidnapped the little girl of the local police officer is influenced by her childish behaviour and decides to give up his life of crime. Meanwhile, Thakuriyan (take on Thakkur) has employed two city-gals, Neetu and Reshma to protect herself and the village of Ramghad from Gabbar. The two beautiful girls foil every attempt by Gabbar’s gang on the village which enrages Gabbar to attack the village and kidnap the two girls. However back at the hideout, the girls with their beauty and sensuous bodies, their dances and sexy styles enflame a desire for love in Gabbar. So when Gabbar attacks Ramghad again and sees Basanti dancing, the romantic side of him over-powers the criminal in him. He now nurses the desire to marry Basanti, he sends his boys to Bansanti’s Mausi with his proposal and when she rejects he even decides to torment the villagers with his announcement of suicide, right on the rooftop for effect. Finally he decides to put down his arms and surrender himself so he can marry Basanti. However when he is all set to marry Basanti with plans for a honeymoon, Basanti disappears from Ramghad. What happens thereafter is a laugh riot that will reinvent the character of Gabbar.

MERI IZZAT BACHAO

This is a movie released in 1984 in the action genre with a strong social message,
Producer Mohan T Gehani and Director Qamar Narvi put together some actors like Chander, Anu Dhawan, Ritu Khanna, Siraj, Zubeida to churn out this story. The title of the movie is self-explanatory where the hero has the perennial duty to do everything possible in order to keep the heroine’s character stainless.

BRANDI KA BOTAL

Though the name may suggest, it is a movie not based on the exploits of brandy which literally mean "burnt wine" but the story circle around a bottle of it. In the film, a innocent bachelor Bagaram, a clerk in a municipal office, has to find some brandy to restore the ill son of his boss. The sick guy is also the brother of Malati , whom he secretly loves. Not knowing what brandy is, Bagaram gets embroiled in adventures, including a famous scene in a crowded bar. He eventually procures a bottle but his beloved persists in regarding him merely as a 'brother'. Directed by the lead actor himself Master Vinayak with a supporting cast of V.G. Jog , Salvi, Meenakshi and Javdekar, this movie is a decent watch but features in this list for its unique and eye-catching title.

PAAP KO JALAA KAR RAAKH KAR DOONGA

This 1988 multistarrer, directed by K.R. Reddy, invoked a lot of passion and vengenance in the soul of youngsters when we see such a aggressive title. The film had casted Dharmendra as CBI Officer Shankar Saxena with Govinda, Anita Raj, Farha Naaz, Kulbhushan Kharbanda in supporting role. Events unfold enveloping the family in a web of deceit, intrigue, distrust, and terror which makes the film at least one watch.

GOD AND GUN

Directed by Esmayeel Shroff and written by Moin-ud-din, this movie released on 27 April 1995 to the Indian people. It starred Raaj Kumar as Saheb Bahadur Rathore and Jackie Shroff as Vijay Prakash with Gautami , Raj Babbar, Madan Jain, Prem Chopra, Rakesh Bedi amongst others.

God and Gun is a daringly different film on contemporary events .It brings forth authentically the inside realities of today's politics. God and Gun advocates the truth that power lies in the hands of people and not politicians. The voice of the people is the voice of god. Corrupt politician Satya Singh is all set to win this year's election also - by hook or by crook. The only person opposing him is Saheb Bahadur Rathore. Satya finds out that Rathore's following is getting stronger, and he sets about attempting to discredit him, in vain. Meanwhile, fed-up of cosmetic elections and corrupt politicians, a young man, Vijay Prakash, has set up his own code to deal with corrupt politicians like Satya - kill them. One day Vijay saves Rathore's life, and both become friends. You need to watch it know what happens next?
